Germany offers yacht charter on two coastlines as well as several inland lakes. The best time of year for yacht chartering in Germany is from May to September.
From the Baltic and North Sea coast to inland lakes, Germany is a sailor's paradise.
The Baltic Sea offers many excellent charter locations with moderate prices, diverse cruising grounds, and tide-free navigation. Charter bases can be found in all of the bigger harbors, especially in the western area of Schleswig-Holstein (along the Danish border). Kiel is the maritime hub, as all boats leaving or entering the Baltic have to pass through the belts (a series of straits) connecting to inland areas. In the Eastern part of Germany, the island of Rugia offers lovely scenery. And major yachting events like Kiel or Travemünde Week offer racing opportunities as well.
The lakes of southern Germany are not typical charter locations, since most sailors are local and spend weekends on their boats. But sailing yachts and houseboats are available, and these inland seas can provide both cultural and sailing adventures.
High season runs from May - September. A wide variety of charter options available.
