New Power Catamaran Joins The Moorings Fleet

A new Moorings 393 power catamaran has just arrived at the company's base in Anacortes, Washington, which will be managed with the rest of the fleet by their Preferred Partner, Anacortes Yacht Charters 

The Moorings 393 Powercat has three deck levels. The flybridge has excellent all around visibility.

The Moorings has had a fleet in the Pacific Northwest since 2004, mostly sailing monohulls including Beneteau 32, 35, 40 and 51 footers. This latest addition marks their first venture into powerboats, which should suit the geography of the area quite well. Carol Hansen, Marketing Manager for The Moorings North America, expects the boat to be used for multi-national itineraries in both the US and Canada. “The powercat is an excellent way to see more of the San Juan Islands, or even head to Victoria, British Columbia and enjoy two countries year-round.”

The Moorings 393 Powercat was designed by Gino Morrelli and built by Robertson & Caine. It features three deck levels with a centrally positioned helm station on a flybridge that has excellent all around visibility. Down below is a large saloon and galley, along with a 3-cabin/2-head layout that features a luxe suite in the starboard hull. Highlighted amenities include a flat-screen TV/DVD player, MP3 connectivity, air conditioning and upgraded navigation electronics including a color chartplotter. The 39-foot cat is powered by twin 110 hp Yanmar diesel engines that deliver excellent fuel efficiency. Solar panels on the hardtop provide additional power.

The cruising grounds of the Pacific Northwest have something for everyone. The protected waters of Puget Sound include secluded anchorages, plentiful wildlife, quaint towns filled with unique shopping, and excellent local seafood. For those more culturally oriented, the galleries and parks of Vancouver as well the picturesque Fairmont Empress Hotel will be welcome explorations. “There are more than 2,000 islands in the US San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands,” adds Hansen. “This powercat is an excellent way to see more of these fantastic waters.”

The Moorings’ parent company, TUI Marine, has launched an aggressive plan to bolster its presence in North America including adding to its fleet in Washington, opening operations in the Chesapeake, and adding a sister-company (Sunsail) base in San Francisco. A Florida destination is under consideration as well.
